Saw this last night looking very sorry for itself on a drive round the corner from my mums. it used to be under a tarp but now left to the elements under a tree. They guy who owns it used to be a member as i sold him a power steering pump for it. i could knock on the door if anyone is interested. Its a Black 68/69 road Runner/satellite.

I would knock on the door Bryan. If it can be bought at least you can put the feelers out and hopefully save it.

It seems my latest Mopar rescue has unfortunately failed.
Apparently the owner is going to repair it and put it back on the road !!!!
Ahhhh. So it's taken 6 years of letting nature do its worst to make that decision!!!

They all say that and most of them also think they're sitting on a gold mine.
There's a super bee about a mile from my house, that is a rusting hulk on his drive, there's also a 68 RR about 3 miles away in a garage, probably never see the light of day again. There's another guy who used to bring a primrose yellow 68 RR to a pub meet we had about 30 + yrs ago, very low mileage, that's also rotting away along with the GTO and other pontiacs he's got.
I'm sure there's cars like this everywhere, just such a waste.

Don't Mick. Drives me nuts !!!!
We should be able to slap a preservation order on them. Where as , as soon as a vehicle becomes historic it is law to keep the vehicle in a road worthy condition. If the owner neglects this responsibility , the vehicle is offered ( by the ruling body , say the dvla ) for sale , to registered car clubs / enthusiasts.
I think it would work ? :read2:

Problem is that id end up getting a letter from the council that my front garden resembles and American junkyard and it has to be kept tidy and not an eyesore!

In all honesty I'd knock on the door (when I'm driving my Mopar, so he can see i'm an enthusiast not a weekend banger racer), and suggest that as I've rescued one, I'd like the opportunity to save this one from tinworm/death!

I think quite a few people refrain from selling as they are not sure if its a scam and are unsure of the reason for your opportunistic introduction/purchase.

Nah,he'll just think you're a dealer  Sometimes these people just won't play the game any way at all. My dad was like that, wouldn't sell stuff, then when he died it took me 2 1/2 years to sort it all out and bin most of it.

well i knocked on the guys door tonight, the answer was a big fat NO. Very weird house, it doesn't look like anyone lives there, leaves all over the drive, 3 big sacks of paper on the drive that are rotting away, a Chrysler 300 6.1 hemi estate on the drive that doesn't look like its been driven in ages.

The door had a hand written sign on it that tells people they are not interested in buying anything.

i really didn't get a good feeling about the house.

Maybe get an MMA headed piece of paper and drop a note through the door stating:

That as a member of the Mopar Muscle Association you are trying to help keep as many of these classic cars on the road as possible. If he is interested in selling to an enthusiast who would cherish the car please can he contact you on xxxxxxxxxxxx or the MMA if he feels it more appropriate on xxxxxxxxxxxx to assure its survival.

Drop on the web address for here on it and see what happens..........repeat with the same letter every 3/6 months!

I read with interest a few guys have done this on FABO. It takes a while, but once the owner of the car (which will never get saved) understands your not trying to 'quick flip' or profiteer from it and your a genuine mopar man they sometimes mellow, and let it go! :thumbright:

Here's a very famous car that stood outside for years but is now well on the way to being saved.

First saw this car about 10+ years ago. It's never moved from that spot as far as i know, pass it quite often as it's only a couple of minuets from my house.
