Compressor recommendations

Can anyone give me advice on a good compressor for up to about ?200, preferably one thats available mail order?

I've looked at the ones at Machine Mart, and don't know which ones would be suitable for small garage use!

The biggest capacity you can afford.

I have found that SIP make good Compressors, with good size, Flpm, etc. Pound for pound compaired to Sealy ect that you get in Machine Mart, Its your best bet. I think you will find them on eBAy too.

Capacity aside, is there any advantage in going for an 'oil free' one?

Would the one found HERE be ok for general garage use, including occational spraying? (we don't have alot of space!)

This SIP Compressor is a little more expencive tham the one you've got a linl to but it is a 3hp motor, with a 50ltr tank. You would not realy want to go any smaller that 50ltr. It has a higher air displacement, but its the FAD you realy want to be watching when you buy a Compressor. This one has free delivery too. Double the Reciever size for a little extra money. You would be glad you went for something like this in the long run.
And no, I dont have shares in the company,lol.

I just got one at 150L, 14cfm, 150 psi. I'll let youknow if it's up to the job in a few weeks.

Thats about what mine is. You can't really run anything bigger on single phase, unless you buy one of those double-head things and they are usually the wrong side of ?800.

Mines an old CompAir J14 3HP. Paid about ?400 for it 10 or 12 years ago. Done me proud.

Depends what you want to use it for, but buying cheap is a false economy IMO, buy the biggest you can afford, especially if you plan on running a DA or any really air-hungry tools.

my mate has this one for sale,at ?250,he wont take any less he said.
i took a couple of pics but not very good coz it was in a van and at night.
Dont know nothing about compressors,so i dont know about price.

Just going off of the Sticker it looks like a 3HP/100ltr Model. I think 250 quid is far to pricey.

The Clarke equivalent to that SIP is ?352 at Machine Mart. First thing to check with any compressor is whether the previous owner knew what the receiver drain valve was for

You'll often get black or carrot colour water out there so who knows how rusty/thin it is

Thanks for thinking of me Karlos, but I think I'll stick with getting one thats new or nearly new - it'll not be in constant use, and one thats getting on a bit might not last very long under those circumstances (moisture buildup etc) ...
