Pretty sure I know the answer to this myself, but just want to check, before I put a rocket up the arse of the dealer I bought the Charger from.
Having been lying under the car today to fit new battery cables down to the starter motor and while there was having a good look around. I had the dealer fit new engine mounts on the old 318, as they were looking pretty knackered before I bought her.
Now I presume you would have to release the gearbox mount to get enough movement etc to fiddle in the new mounts and let the engine sit comfortable on the new mounts ?
So I am checking the state of the gearbox mount and thinking why did I not insist they change that as well, when I notice that there appears to be two threaded holes either side of the mount, going into the gearbox, but no bolts !!
Is it me or should there be two bolts there ?
Thanks
Adrian

'68 - '69 has a mount with 2 bolts up and a bolt from the mount into the transmission cross-member which is removable... on the '70 it is similar but with a single long bolt transverse to the removable cross-member.
Vertical bolts should have 5/8" heads. If you change the mount go for a poly one. There is no real need to loosen off the trans mount to change the engine mounts.........

Great thats what I thought, I just want to get back to the dealer and suggest that they have left them out, if it was not them, they dam well should have noticed they were not there.
The hole look suspiciously clean, as if the bolts have been not been gone long.
It a good thing I picked her up on a trailer and did not drive her home.
Will let you know what excuse the dealer comes up with !!!
Thanks

yeah the mount should be bolted onto the ally tail shaft casing otherwise the box will drift from side to side as you get on and off the gas
flat bit of case 1 hole each side of the main tunnel
however the bolts are about 2 inches up the hole through the cross member either side of the tiny stud that bolts the rubber end into the cross member
only reachable with a long socket and/or extension
the mount is T shaped with the leg of the T encased in rubber
the bolts just bolt the cross bar of the T to the flat mounting pedestal on the bottom of the tailshaft only about 1 inch long
you will probably need a light under there to see the bolts
easy to forget

Well dealer did not apologize, but did send me two new bolts and washers. Fitted them straight in with no problems and a old box spanner worked perfect for getting up there.
Should I be thinking of changing the mount for a new Poly one ? Think I read somewhere makes a big difference.

might want to move to the later spool mount and cross member
if the rubber is in decent nick either type works ok
primary concern would be torque twsiting the motor and trans to one side....so having good mounts up front would come first or application of a torque twist limiting device to limit the distance the engine can rock.
i belive if you were to totally solid mount the rear of the trans you could eventually snap the tailshaft housing, dunno why i think that someone must have said it in the past... i don't have enough oomf to break anything much.

That sound like me, I only have a tired 318ci in her, so not going to break anything. Already has new engine mounts, so will leave gearbox mount as standard.
Just wish I had ordered one on my last Rockauto order !!! Keep finding more things I fancy replacing and spending a fortune on shipping !!
