There is a tang that locates the cap. So it only goes on one way around.

Check that without the clamps in place that you cannot rotate the cap AT ALL. Any variation in the rotation of the cap will effect timing.

dave81, if you doubt the new cap pop down and see me i have quite a few new and used, as for running on remember i never set the timing due to needing new plugs and leads (unless you did) so it could be way to advanced, then it will want mixtures and idle tweaking, any doubts on valves sticking do a compression test but i,m sure you would hear a lifter clicking away, give me a shout if you get stuck
keep it mopar !

Thanks for the kind offer, may pop down next Sat if your in! :thumbright:

No audible noise from lifters, though the leaking headers do there best to cover all other noises anyway.

Dave invest in one of these, this will tell you if you are getting power to the plugs. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350112474772? ... 1436.l2649

I am also inclined to agree with Charger. My car runs like crap when its cold feels like its not running on all 8 wont tick over on its own sometimes unless I give it a little gas for 30 seconds then ticks over lumpy until it starts to warm up, but Im not using a choke.

Try that little gadget when its cold to see if all are sparking, use both caps and rotor to see if both are giving juice to the leads.

your cap will have 1 or 2 lugs

and they should match for size the indentations in the inner edge of the dizzy body

obviously 1 indentation is better becasue you can align the fat indent with the thin lug on the cap inner rim on a 2 lug cap and get a wibbly wobbler.

hemi 6 slant 6 electronic vs points and any combo of both couple thou differnce in the lug size and the cap distance to rotor causes all the problems easy to mix and match and come up with the wrong combo.

slant 6 is American mopar hemi 6 is Robert Bosch australia PTY or Joseph Lucas with aftermarket made by Hella aaaaaaarrrgh

similar may exist for Veee Eights mopar Mopar performance aftermarket from napa wells echlin erm borg bleedin warner et al
