Films now and coming up
Went to see American Sniper....superbly made by Clint Eastwood and acted by Bradley Cooper, great film of a sad story. EJ my American ex forces pal told me about some of the anti reception the book and the film got in the states. And politically I bet the lead role in the Steven Hawking film gets the Oscar not Cooper.
BUT....saw the trailer for Fast and furious 7 and, well, just when I thought there couldn't be anything worse than Fast 6, here it comes. Instead of notching it down from the ludicrous action in 6 and at least trying for some of the original charm, they've gone for even more stupidity! Parachuting cars, na can't be bothered.
Looking forward to Mad Max Fury Road though....just hope they don't overdo the cgi though...??

"Now some guys they just give up living - start dieing little by little, piece by piece. Some guys come home from work and wash up, then go racing in the streets...." Bruce Springsteen
That makes 3 of us then, at least in those days the stunts where real, cant stand that computer graphic unrealistic over the top sh1.t. I think the original gone in 60 seconds held the record for the highest or furthest jump by any car.

Ah...Warren Oates is great in that film! They showed it on a big outdoor screen at a car show last year....great film!
Some CGI is ok but too much ruins films. I love ' I Am Legend'. Great film and the CGI in derelect New York is great. It goes down hill fast when they CGI the zombies insted of real people. Shame...still good though

Looking forward to seeing the film American Sniper......
Sad story at the end though........after all that time in hostile territory and he was done at home.......also find it sad that Blaine from Predator is continuing to sue a dead man after the book release by Mr Kyle!
As for films. There are always the classics and Duel is one of my top 3. But for the pinnacle it's got to be Gone in 60 by HB Halicki.
The stuff he did will never ever be reproduced:
Getting the town Mayor to allow them to race the streets on a Sunday without informing the town of what was going on.
The off ramp accident that shouldn't of happened but made it into the film.
Driving into crash cars too enthusiastically at his mates car dealership and writing off more than the placement cars......
Almost killing his mate by miss judging the handbrake turn and piling into the car his mate was stood behind.....
H&S, lawyers would have a field day today.......
Plus 45 mins of a 90 min movie is pure car chases and crashes.........
Have to say I wince at the classics (by today's standards) being written off for entertainment.......

Jeez. Forgot about that film Steve. Absolute cracker.Steve wrote:I know its bikes but Bruce Browns 'On Any Sunday' is a very good film. A snapshot of American off road racing etc in the seventies....fantastic classic scramblers etc and Steve McQueen sure knows how to ride!!
Have to watch that again sometime. Been many years.
