As for films. There are always the classics and Duel is one of my top 3. But for the pinnacle it's got to be Gone in 60 by HB Halicki.

Getting the town Mayor to allow them to race the streets on a Sunday without informing the town of what was going on.
The off ramp accident that shouldn't of happened but made it into the film.
Driving into crash cars too enthusiastically at his mates car dealership and writing off more than the placement cars......
Almost killing his mate by miss judging the handbrake turn and piling into the car his mate was stood behind.....
H&S, lawyers would have a field day today.......
Plus 45 mins of a 90 min movie is pure car chases and crashes.........
Have to say I wince at the classics (by today's standards) being written off for entertainment.......
Totally agree Dave, done all his own stunts including the jump, and was seriously hurt hitting the lamp post. Sadly killed whilst filming the sequel.

seems like good old musclecar films are a thing of the past now eh
Ive always enjoyed quality films regardless of what they are about....things like 'The Shawshank Redemptrion' etc. A great film is pure escapism for me and I think quality films have gone up a notch over the past 10 years or so. I love films like 'Brooklyns Finest', 'Crash', 'American Hustle' etc. Watched 'Lawless' a few nights ago with my daughter. Great film, based on a true story about bootlegging during the prohibition.....well worth a look. Off to see that Sniper film on Tuesday....looks good!
I read American Sniper and his other book American Gun a couple of years ago. Great reads. I found the movie a bit 'meh' really. Generally I find books far more exciting.
Yes books are more detailed, Christine is a great read and far more detailed than the film but couldn't help referring back to the film whilst reading it. Jaws is still one of my favourite films but is totally different from the book.

I must say that The Worlds fastest Indian was great, good stuff from Sir Anthony Hopkins!
I always thought how nice it would be for the classics of the past to have the out takes of the movie be made available to watch with comments from the actors and film crew like you sometime get on directors cut.
I must admit I do not like to see the cars getting bent up but thats what they all seem to do.

Yeah, very sad. I bought all 4 of his films off Amazon. TBH none of them are anywhere near as good as GI60.
Gone in 60 2 actually has the scene where he drove the Semi into the water tower and its collapse. Think he was taken out by a power line, that was brought down by the tower as he was legging it........talk about wrong place at the wrong time!

Only modern film I think had a great chase in it, was Ronin. But the cars are a bit meh!

My bruvs mate had an early twin shock Honda 400 scrambler a few years back. Tried many times to buy it , but he wouldn't budge !

I forgot about Ronin....great car chase! Apparently, the car controls were moved to the rear to make it look like Robert diNero was driving. A stunt man was doing the driving....something like that anyway! Great film though
