The majority of religions have moved with the times and left barbarism behind centuries ago, islam is one of the only religions that is still stuck in the dark ages, i.e treatment of women, stoning,genital mutilation, forced marriage, fanaticism, etc etc

You will find many other religions exactly the same including some Christian fractions. What you don't seem to understand Mick is this sort of behaviour has nothing to do with what religion people are. If you think that then you are very blinkered and susceptible to the influences making you think so.

As I have told you before Mick but clearly you don't listen. Not all Muslims have those things.

Treatment of women. Not a Muslim thing. It's an Arab thing. Nothing to do with religion.

Stoning. Carried out by people all over the world. Even Negros were stoned in the USA by Christians.

Genital Mutilation. Is an African tradition. Again nothing to do with Islam.

Forced marrage. Traditional in all cultures all around the world. Nothing to do with Islam.

Fanaticism. You have to be taking the pee with this one. There are more Christian fanatics than anything else!

While there is no mention of FGM in the Quran, a Hadith (saying about the life of the prophet) recounts a debate between Muhammed and Um Habibah (or Um ‘Atiyyah). This woman, known as an exciser of female slaves, was one of a group of women who had immigrated with Muhammed. Having seen her, Muhammad asked her if she kept practicing her profession. She answered affirmatively, adding: “unless it is forbidden, and you order me to stop doing it.” Muhammed replied: “Yes, it is allowed. Come closer so I can teach you: if you cut, do not overdo it, because it brings more radiance to the face, and it is more pleasant for the husband.”[2]

Most clerics use this hadith to say circumcision is recommended, but not obligatory for women. But some say it is obligatory. While others who take a position against FGM call this hadith weak in relation to the “do no harm” principle of Islam or interpret the intention of the prophet differently.

An often heard interpretation is: “Islam condones the sunna circumcision … What is forbidden in Islam is the pharaonic circumcision,” like Sheikh Omer from Ethiopia explained in an interview with IRIN. Others, such as the late rector of Al-Azhar University, Sheikh Gad al-Haq, said that since the Prophet did not ban female circumcision, it was permissible and, at the very least, could not be banned.

In Egypt this position has long been overturned by Al-Azhar Sheikhs. Today, the Grand Mufti of Egypt Ali Gomar says: “The practice must be stopped in support of one of the highest values of Islam, namely to do no harm to another – in accordance with the commandment of the Prophet Mohammed “Accept no harm and do no harm to another.” This is echoed by many other Islamic scholars who have released Fatwas against FGM, however, the mainstream opinion still seems to by what the Grand Mufti of Oman Ahmed Al Khalili replied when asked for an opinion by an activist: “Even though its not an operation you must perform on women, we can’t describe it as a crime against women or as a violation of women’s rights.”

They have distorted Islam to fit their own customs.

Just as Christians distorted early Christianity to fit theirs. A relevant example being a lack of women in the church. Something they are still struggling to reverse. Christians started repressing women even before Islam was invented.

Some Christian communities live a backward and oppressive live. Look at the Amish. What about Mormons? Some of them still have multiple wives who are not allowed to work. Stuck in the kitchen.

Every area of the world has it's own local traditions. When a people are converted to a new religion they hang on to their local customs and traditions and even their "pagan" festivals.

Why do you think we have Easter and Christmas? They have nothing to do with Christianity. Christianity was distorted to fit the existing traditions.

So you look at Islam in different parts of the world you will also see different customs and different interpretations of Islam. You will see women that are in top jobs. Driving expensive cars. Enjoying sex because they still have their bits.

We are not under threat from Islam. We are under threat from North Africans and Arabs.

Geographically speaking yes but in reality North Africa has little to do with Sub Sahara Africa. North Africans are generally all Arabs and speak Arabic. Your point was FGM was an African problem not a Muslim one, my point is it is a Muslim one as Arab (Muslim) countries in North Africa condone and carry out these atrocities.

True, but whilst Christianity is almost an irrelevance these days Islam is becoming more and more active and wide spread. There is more and more women leaders in Churches these days, even Homosexuals which the bible actually forbids. Has Islam moved with the times in anyway?

Last time I looked Mormons and Amish where not desecrating our national monuments, nor where they burning people alive in cages, cutting off peoples heads, throwing Gays off of buildings, as a faith universally calling for Shira law or making my kids eat Halal Meat in Schools. Yes they are not perfect and are nutters but lets compare Apples with Apples here.

Regardless of the wide and varied traditions of Islamified countries they still follow the teachings of a Pedophile ie the Cur'an. Again, have you read the Cur'an in much detail at all? There is no wide spread condemnation for what the 'extremest' aspects of Islam are carrying out, just lip service. 10,000 just marched on Downing Street to protest the cartoons of Charlie Hebdo.
