im sad to report that Mel mcclaine passed away,not sure of the circumsances,she was always a bubbly character and the life and soul at the shows ,such a trajic loss,gods speed mel

Like Blue I didn't know Mel well but remember spending a good while talking to her on Saturday night at last years Nats. The Duster was sidelined with clutch problems but that didn't dampen her enthusiasm for the car, Mopar or the Nats in general.
A great loss to the hobby ,we need people like Mel.

finding it hard coming to terms with this, Mel was and always will be a true petrol head, she showed me a thing or two and when it all went tits up she just smiled and carried on. spent many evenings talking crap and eating brownies (maybe not in that order) she will be missed by many people, I would say RIP but Mel would never rest, always on the go, but I suppose peace is something she instilled in all of us, especially after a slice of cake.

I am struggling as well.
She was something special for sure, I remember going to her place to do some work on Prozac and she was all bandaged up, blood all over the place.. turns out a Rottie had launched a full on attack on her beloved dogs so she got between them and took all the pain rather than let her babies suffer.
She was a real hippie, loved life and life loved her, she had some insane stories that Steph and I loved to hear while I helped keed that Duster on the road!
She would do anything and everything for the furry family, going without herself to pay for meds for the 'kids', an awesome person to know and if she liked you she REALLY liked you, she made Steph and I so loved everytime we dropped in.
Prozac, the 340 4 speed Duster she treasured was mine before and when the time came to sell it (it was an it then) she came to see it with Carl who was a bit negative, it was a bit tatty round the edges I admit but the price was fair in my opinion..
She fell in love right there and right then, she named it/him Prozac on my drive and nothing Carl could say was going to put her off! we talked for hours and she explained stuff and talked stuff and was just Mel.
We agreed a price, I moved to her because she needed this car, really, those who knew her will understand, I didn;t at the time but over the years I came to be more than happy I passed the car on to her.
It was her love, it kept her (reasonably) sane, it gave her hope and a goal, the Roger Butterworth (R.I.P.) cup the latest mission in her incredable life, she loved my wife Steph (she called her the Munchkin!) almost as much.
Mel was special, nothing got her down, nothing swayed her from her path, nothing stopped her, even to the end she was preparing to go and help Rogers family, she put herself last after the doggies, after the car, after the bloody sheep at the bottom of the garden she fed every day.
I am welling up writing this, I was so looking forward to Prozac coming back to her after the Mopar flight to the field so we could get him tuned and ready for the first full calender in ages she could load up the furries and do the gigs.
Give 'em hell girl, I hope you can meet Duster dog and give him some more of the massive love you have for him, try to be cool when you meet Stevie McQueen, at least try.....
You will be missed more than you would ever know, I kow you had doubts about how people thought about you and agendas but trust me, the love for you out weighed it all.
Sleep well Mel, we will miss you more then you would imagine x
