69 charger R/T - Steering wheel and boss

Post by Raminduction »

As much as I love the charger I dont like the big clumsy original steering wheel and would love to fit a smaller wheel that looks and feels a little more modern but with a retro touch to it

Has anyone got any recommendations as to where to get a Boss kit / wheel.....
I was thinking E bay USA ?

Thanks

Grant steering wheels are popular on Mopars Matt. Just don't throw the original away. I know what you mean - some people like the big thin rims , some don't.
if you think speed kills don't get on a plane

You may find you want to change from PAS to manual and that may influence your choice of wheel..............

My car had a Grant steering wheel fitted on it when I bought it and I didn't like it. I fitted an Chrysler steering wheel and it's much better. Still got it if you're interested. I'll swap it for your Chrysler wheel.

That's great - I've looked up Grant steering wheels and found some nice ones in the states. I'm going to order a quick release Boss / hub for security as we'll.

That boss won't fit onto the Mopar spinlines. You will have to cut up an old steering wheel or weld it onto the shalf. (If you weld you can't get to switch etc)

Also that will put the steering wheel right in your face .

I'm pretty sure that a Dodge Viper has the same splines as a 68 b body and it bolts straight on :thumbright: only needed of you want quick release.

As Duncan says get a old motolite wooden wheel and make it fit the moden stuff Is pony

The Grant wheel is ok but you need to lose the 'Mopar' emblem in the middle.

Im with Dunc & Autofetish though.

Completely agree with all the above comments, I think it may be better to drive the car and then see other cars at some shows for ideas and then make a decision..............

These are lovely but not sure if you could get one to fit.

Have a word with Anton, he could make you one, even to your own design, he made mine and his own.

If you have a look at Anton workshop thread you can just about see his steering wheel.
