It would be great to run as fast / a little faster than Duncan cos that's what racers DO! We compete - even if it is good-natured for bragging rights and not for Pinks!

However, I clearly recognise that Duncan took a very high level of risk in order to run those times, as he knowingly pushed the limit; and to his immense credit he ran the numbers.

Given that I have blown up my fair number of motors (some my bad, mostly not) I know the cost and sheer work involved to repair and remedy.

I am at the age (retired) that I cannot afford to write those cheques any more, let alone deal with the hassle.

I will probably have to lower my expectations, but not without exploring all possibilities; which is the main reason for running this thread - and also to stimulate more debate on the site.

I really appreciate all input and discussions ,as it not only helps me make informed decisions; but it may also encourage others to participate in the sport.......

Yes exactly, and thats what I have been trying to do in my own way....stimulate more debate on this site and to get people to understand a bit more about engines re the engine build specs I've put up from elsewhere, and we are not talking about race motors, also the thread on car specs. Anyhow, I wish you all the best with that project, the debate was/is interesting.

Pete,
Loads of interesting points made in this thread, I'm really looking forward to see her hit the tracks. The "Big Hitter" will be on your wallet I think, but, also a good name for her.
Best of luck with it chap.

As mentioned, Pete at Chassis Tech Race Cars made a bit of a start (Don't panic, Jon!!) on the cage and hit a couple of issues - not helped by my size 12 feet!!!

The Original fixed door bars were relatively in-board, a fist look indicated that these could be moved further out for more room and still door handle clearance.

Finished ones will be swing out style; more cost but easier to live with....

Unfortunately, if this were adopted together with a revised cage with an "A" Post and chassis ties, the Post will fall well within the passenger compartment and not offer sufficient protection to the legs....

Dunc / Pete

If I remember rightly this was run at 2005 Euronats, turned up in the back of a 7.5 tonne box truck ??

Or was that the one with the rear window missing ??

The one with the rear window missing was:

1) Blue

2) A Plymouth

3) A "B" Body

4) A Roadrunner (maybe a GTX or a clone)......

It had the DLI Hemi head unit in it and Dave Madders imported it.

Steve Nieamantis bought it and I think the motor got lunched at York......not sure who owns it now - DaveB will know.......
