Spreadbore Holley, any good?

Post by db »

I picked this up for £30, it's a Holley 4165 800cfm dp spreadbore.
I realise it won't fit my manifold, but are they any good?
Is it worth rebuilding & selling on, or am I better off just cannibalising it for spares?
I'd be looking at a rebuild kit, one pump lever is missing along with several bolts, one float is dented, dunno if it's useable. It seems in good condition apart from that.

Nowt wrong with 'em apart from the fact that it's not the regular Holley stud pattern, it will only fit a spreadbore specific manifold or you need to use an adaptor, you are messing with GM voodoo here...
Worth rebuilding and reselling, should fetch over £100 on a good day on the 'bay.

Thats good, thanks Blue. I do enjoy rebuilding a carby so it'll be nice to pull a few quid in on it too!

..and what might you want for that adaptor Pete? ;)

I have a Mr Gasket #1932 but it is not clear on the packet ( ) what it fits; but it does not fit a 4500 series (probably why I have not used it!! ;) )

Have a looksee on 'interweb and let me know....

Cheers

Bit misleading, the regular holley pattern isn't offset but it ain't square either, 4500 is though, but no one in their right mind would be bolting a Doominator to a Quadrajet intake would they?
