Petrol Sender Unit Question.

Hi there guys.
took sender unit out today,to c why the fuel gauge wasnt working and i was wondering should there be a little plastic float on the end?
If so does anyone have one of these or a full sender unit please?

brass float

but a plastic one will do the job, Land Rover ones fit or Mustang are the same.

Yeah for now ive used one of them small toilet cistern floats:)
