Yeah Terry, I need a mohair dash mat and some leopard skin seat covers I think.
Thanks Rich, glad you like her matey!!
Green68, that's interesting, I think I was a bit naïve to think anyone would give a damn about my old car!!
The screen is a big downer as the glass is perfect....never mind, its been an eye-opener and glad I didn't import a £30k car!!
Im a bit pi55ed off to be honest as someone has forced the door windows down as the battery was flat and they don't wind up anymore. Ive dropped the door cards out and stuck some power to the motors. they spin but don't move the windows....
Cars can get abused in transit even if containerised. It would seem deckhands and dock workers don't give a toss, non runners will be moved with a forklift by the easiest method. Ro Ro is the worst, cars will be walked over if that's the quickest route from A to B, stuff gets nicked. Especially if the boat goes through the Panama canal because all the crew have to come off while the Panamaniams move the ship through the canal, much skullduggery ensues.
I guy I know brought in a very nice Willys some years ago, it was mint with a custom leather interior, it was in a container and came with a spare transmission. On the docks instead of just sliding the trans in the container, they just slung it into the car and wrecked the interior.
In the main I think containerised cars usually get here with little or no damage, but it's always a chance you take.
I used Kingstown to bring in the Valiant, no problems at all, went to the docks ', reconnected the battery fired it up and drove it home.
Ali, I used shipmycar. To be fair to them, up to this point they have been good to deal with. Kingsley (the MD) is looking into the insurance side of things for me and I am awaiting an update from him.
Blue, that's interesting....it doesn't fill me with confidence about bringing any more over to be honest....bit of a sour taste at the moment. Sounds like the dockers really don't care at all. Glad she wasn't a high dollar car!!!
Keeping her completely stock down to wheel trims etc.....Im a sucker for originality as you know! Pete suggested a blower, rear blocks, Superbird spoilers front and rear and a killer Kenwood stereo with boom boxes but I politely declined
