1984 August Bank Holiday Supernationals, Santa Pod

Post by RobTwin »

Here we go with some oldies then, back from the good old days when ordinary punters like me could get away with standig in the fire-up road to take pics along side the pros.
Got a couple more to scan from this meet so will add them in a day or two.
Mostly Mopars here, plus any pics I thought worth sharing.....

Cheers Dunc!
Did you say earlier that you used to own Arno's Coronet at some time? If so when, cos Graeme had it for donkeys....?

So was that after Graeme? Couldnt believe it when he sold it.
Did you get to use it much? What I loved about that car was it could handle (for a B-body!) and had a good top end, unlike most.
Bit of a forerunner to Dave & Linda's Challenger ?!
Used to hear tales of 150mph runs round the M25 chasing all sorts of exotica.......

Arnod sold it to John "son of rockstar" Maynard, I think Dunc had it after that. It had run 'bout 11.8 with 4.10's in it, it would later pull 150 with 3.23's., he would terrorize anything in that car....

Thanks Blue. So was that story about John M being Brian Jones' illegitimate son true?
Fascinated by it at the time but did wonder as the years have passed whether he was taking advantage of my naivety :tongue3:
It did sound like a bit of an urban myth...

It's all true, and you could see the resemblance! Came to light when he decided to trace his real parents, was over the moon when he traced his mum to California and boy did she have a story to tell, not at all what he expected to find.
