I understand its due to the time on the engines and lack of replacements but it's got to be about money.
The government can give away money to other country's for their space program but cant give a bean (as far as I am aware) for what is such a tremendous UK treasure which just goes to show how soulless they are.
As can be seen the public interest is huge as it was for the Concorde and we know what happened to that don't we?

remember seeing the Vulcan fly , at the Rochester air display , think it was just after the falklands war , so may be july august 1982 , & it was its last time , it was going to be seen flying . first time it was grounded or moth balled or static display only . wonder if it was the same one back then

I used to work in the woods behind RAF Wittering in the early 80's and they used to scare the hell out of me regularly with low flying. Great though and really pleased it flew over our house last week.
Also saw the Spitfires but living near Conninsby the BBMF are frequent flyers over our house, I'm sure they use it as a reference point, head to Horizons and turn left

Super pics Si.They bring back memories of the sixties when I saw them flying on active duty.We stayed with family friends who lived in Bracebridge Heath, near Lincoln. At that time the Vulcans were stationed at RAF Waddington, just down the road from their house.Could here them taking off and would run round the front of the house to watch them fly over.Sometimes there could be three at once, awesome sight and sound.
