Wedge 426

Post by MoparAl »

Trying to do a deal on a car that has a 426 Wedge with expensive headers , would the headers on this motor fit a 400 block ? Also this 426 is supposed to have been stroked to around 465 at a cost of $15k ! So not sure wether to keep the 426 or fit the 400 ? Hate having choices as it confuses the issue ! Advise really welcome from you guys , Al

Hi there Al.
If you mean they are the Max Wedge Cast Iron "Headers", I would be quite sceptical about them fitting anything other than a raised block, the twins may be able to advise but we really need to know the headers make and type and preferably the car before offering valid advice...........

Is the 400 a bit special, stroked etc, reason I ask is why would you want to swap the stroked 426 for a 400?

The car was a 49 P15, couldn't get together on a deal without the motor, was thinking of putting my 470 stroker in it instead of the Coronet. Best deal on the table is to buy it with the motor at the mo. We'll see how it goes.
