Sunday was pretty good following an apparently wobbly start on Saturday after being hit by a thunderstorm which caused major inconvenience and disruption during the show build and setup on Friday night.

The event was very well organised with plenty of variety.

Will update and post MOPAR pics with a fuller report to tomorrow.

The Route 66 show at Hurn Bridge, (next to Bournemouth Airport) was a two day event, organised and arranged using the time proven formula seen at many county shows, but with cars replacing the livestock. Local car clubs and regional branches of national clubs turned out to entertain a largely family audience of enthusiastic visitors.

Ten Events, the organisers of the new two-day American themed Independence weekend, did a great job creating a show which deserves to grow. As with any new event, especially one competing for attention with so many other alternative outdoor and national televised events such as the British Grand Prix and Wimbledon, on the same weekend, will always be high risk. Apparently, Saturday was a more subdued affair when visitor numbers were less, as organisers, exhibitors and campers recovered from a damaging flash storm over night on Friday.

Large marquees around a formal show arena made for a professional appearance and provided focal points for the outdoor club displays. The locally-based Can-Am Car Club took charge of arranging the vehicles in the American Car marquee with an eclectic mix of classics and moderns on display. Cars were paraded and drivers interviewed in the arena where some also elected to demonstrate their donut and dust raising skills.

Other show attractions included mower racing, where competitor commitment could match any karting championship and American-style mixed tag team wrestling!

The show team had put an enormous amount of effort into the planning and execution of an event which showed all the hallmarks of being able to grow from strength to strength. I can only wish them every future success.

Images below of the MOPARs and others at the event, on Sunday.
