Thinking about it Matt, I've got some nifty little spring loaded tools that are excellent for tight spaces when a bit of finesse is needed such as this. Welcome to borrow if you want.

If its the 360 sfi flex plate there is a big cut out in it.

The plate that Matt bought has no cut out as its for an internally balanced motor. Hope it's the right plate

Matt, as has been mentioned by Terry, as the bolt was loose, it's probably finger tight, why not carefully araldite a small bolt to the sheared one, leave it to set and see if you can spin it out?

SUCCESS !!!!!!!!!!

Bit the bullet and dropped the box this morning at 6.30 am. Verter out, drills didnt touch it, so did the Matt trick, hot and fast MIG weld on the sheared bit until it built up proud of the lug, then welded a 1/2 inch nut to the proud weld, spanner on that and unwound the whole lot.

Everything back in by 3pm, usual christening of the drive and sleeves with ATF but, all running and got 5 of us to Classics on the Common and back tonight.

Thanks to everyone for the tips, advice and encouragement, including the hugely generous offer to drive down from Shropshire with a boot ful of tools to sort it out.

Mood is improved somewhat now, and looking forward to the weekend now.

I bet you tightened the convertor bolt more than 35 ft/lbs!!!
