Re using U bolts for leaf springs
Some of the yank sites get very excited about not resuming them. I'm fitting an add a leaf and want to reuse my u bolts. They were new three years ago and have been reused once before now. Any thoughts? Can't see why Mopar would fit parts that can't be reused.
I've reused old ones on many occassions, provided the threads are good and there's no serious pitting I wouldn't worry about it. In all my years in the trade, before disposable stretch head bolts came along, no one ever replaced a pefectly good bolt on anything, nothing fell apart because of it.

Chrysler ones have a nice waffle pattern to the inner
designed to allow you to do them up to a sensible 40 or 45 ft lb without the axle slipping or you kinking the axle tubes
if they have been mangled up to 70 80 or 90 ft lb
new will be necessary
45 ft.lbs. (+/-15) for 8-3/4" and Dana60 axles.
40ft.lbs (+/-10) for 7-1/4" axles.
spec for bolts that do not have the flattened section with waffle in the U may differ

Yes reuse if in good order. Hell, I've even cut them off with the angle grinder, welded them back together and used them again on my old Landrover
Might not sound safe but never had a problem.
