Starter motor
Anybody know or have any suggestions on how I get the starter motor out from my 72 duster
Have released all the bolts on the header and from exhaust flange. Also bolts removed from starter motor but there is no way I can see the dam thing coming out
Cheers

we need to know what we are dealing with here ,you need to get some more info on you car ,ive looked through your posts and all I know is its a 72 duster ,small block ,big block convertion ,get some pics up ,are the hookers underbody ,fenderwell ,street corners ,,,we need pics ,
we need to see the patient in question ,before the resident doctors can give a diagnosis

nicked this from the summits review ,on small block hookers,
These things sound amazing and work well in my 1974 Dodge dart with a 360, however installing them is a bit of a beast. Be prepared to lift the motor a few inches and disassemble the driver side steering linkage, the tie rod and linkage go through the headers so once you've got them in you then reinstall your linkage through a gap in them. May be able to just do the linkage part if you have a lift or a way to get the vehicle high enough to put them up through the bottom
but that is just for insatalation of the header, seeing as yours is loose,i would drop the draglink and maybe take the header out ,you may aswell seeing as its loose
think blue has had dealings with hookers on a smallblock in an a body

yes steve ,I know many things sometimes ,but not often,im guesing he has the small block ones ,if he had fenderwells the starter would just drop out ,so in quessing the steering goes throught the primary tubes ,with the steering off and the header loose and a bit of wiggling and swearing the starter will drop out ,,,,,and when its out and in the bin ,replace it with a mini starter
The engine is a 318 and steering linkage does go through between header pipes
The header won't move over far enough due to the bulkhead end hitting the steering column and then there are the transmission cooling pipes
Think i will need to go to church with all the swearing that's gone on today and grazed knuckles😢

Blimey - Terry's got his sensible head on today!

Or maybe you're above jokes about hookers, Terry?

I removed my stock starter last year. This was with stock manifolds and 1 combined exhaust tube past the starter. I would guess getting the chunky Bananarama! past the draglink and past the header tubes is going to prove almost impossible with the car jacked off the floor.
I'm happy I did mine and its a worthy upgrade, but I didn't half pine for a four post. If it had had headers on I would of probably drank beer and looked at it before screaming profanity, Tourette's style.
Good luck but I recon you may end up removing parts to get it out.
