must get on with Dart !!!!

Post by Johnny Dart »

I imported a 2005 Mustang December last, with the intention of getting it how I wanted , and running it this year while working on the mods for the Dart.
I have already fitted the hybrid, disc locker Dana 44HD axle, and road tested it , that all ok.
Next move was to overhaul the 727 with all the Alto bits I imported last year.
However, I have found that when I had time to work on the Dart, I found myself out for a cruise/blast in the Mustang.
In conclusion this wasn't a very good idea
So the Dart is still under a dust sheet in the Barn, waiting for some attention.
I need motivation chaps, to stop driving the Mustang, and start working on the Dart

Edited that for you Terry. ;) :thumbright:

Sell your Mustang and buy an oil burner........this helps to concentrate the mind! Not that I could afford it, but I would fear owning modern muscle for this exact reason, work or play...........and another year passes.

The Idea was to buy the Mustang, run it for the year, while working on the Dart, then sell it.
But it hasn't worked out quite that way
I also had to get the VW bus roadworthy for the misses
I,m hoping to make a start soon :thumbright:

Then I'd sell the mustang and buy something that doesn't have such gravity to drag you out of the garage.

I've not had mine on the road for nearly 12 months.........it's all worth it when it drives! Set the goal and do it...........life's to short and Ma Mopar is good medicine! ;) :thumbright:

Johnny has that Dart got a stroker motor? I can't remember, but you need to take it out and get it sideways, get loads of thumbs ups from passing strangers, have fun with it and remember by grace of God you have a Mopar!!!

Miles,I did not get the stroker motor in the end. I bought the Mustang instead,
They were the same sort of money, and I thought I might have more fun with the Mustang, and get my money back when I sold it.
Plus I'd already bought the ally heads, cam, intake and carb, for the 318, so I've decided that a breathed on 318 will give me plenty of grin.
otherwise, I'll just spend loads of money on high power engine, that I,m never going to race.
I think I can get 350+, bhp out of the 318.and with the tricked up 727, and the locking 3.73 axle, it should be a nice usable car.
How much power can you put down on street tyres, I still want it drivable, and not too thirsty, or I won't enjoy driving it.

Ok Johnny, make sense. What pistons and cam are you using? 350 hp seems keen for a 318 but it would be fun.

Yep might be a bit optimistic
I won't be changing the pistons, or decking the block, will use the heads as is, as I don't want to machine them, in case a 360 motor comes uo at a later date. Cam is xe268, air gap intake , 600 quick fuel, headers, electronic ign.
basically, gearbox out, for upgrade, replace all engine parts in situe, original engine is good order.
