I use those Speaker Terminals off-shore for connecting our Down Hole Pressure/Temperature Gauges to the Surface Accusation unit.
The type Jem has there?

They are called DIN plugs. All the rage on audio equipment in the 70s. Came in 3 and 5 pin versions mainly. But also two types of 5 and 6 pin (different pin spacing) mainly for control systems.

After searching for donkeys years I finally tracked down a pair of these puppies on Preloved of all places. Coral BX1200's - they're mahoosive!

Not yet Dave.

I'm going to take the whole lot to a very reputable hi-fi repairer in Bedford and not leave until it's all sorted.

So after a bit of a hiatus this is where I've ended up.

Akai GXC-570D cassette deck. Awesome bit of kit - 3 head / 3 motor job.

MCS 3725 receiver.

Hitachi PS38 turntable.

Sonab QA5 upward firing speakers.

Nice 8-) That must sound great in the old barge Jem - I imagine the acoustics are better than a conventional 'land based' living room?

That Akai tape deck looks very similar the one we bought as schoolboys from Dixons back in the late 70's? except ours was (is) only 1/2 as tall. So prob not in the same class as yours. In fact Stu still has it.

Come to think of it, I think our (now his ;)) turntable Bananarama! too... :-k

Great setup there Jem. I always wanted good stuff but could never afford it. Never heard of most of this stuff....Wharfdale was always the dream for me. I just listen to my stuff on a small Sony CD player these days and I haven't listened to my vinyl for donkeys years. Think I still have my old Dual direct drive turntable in the loft but that's about it :thumbright:

Funny you should mention Wharfedales Steve. Bought these Wharfedale floor standers in a charity shop for nine quid. They'e positioned opposite the Sonab speakers. Totally OTT but had to be done.

Does it have wireless for MP3 streaming?

Speakers look a bargain and I like the look of the old gear, very retro

Old is the new new, which we now know. 8-) 8-)

no

but with this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-SMSL-Sansk ... 339a9ef317

this is expensive I got mine from Hong Kong for £30

or use cheap USB sound card with analogue out stereo headphone connectors

like this its only a £pund

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/External-USB- ... 51d02c187c

and

one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OpenPeak-o2-J ... 1770737555

or this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Openpeak-Jogg ... 1602991274

pay no more than 40 +postage

or get one with squeezplay and and PNP III on it for a bit more

job done

full Logitech squeeze player touch functionality

for less than £100 if you bide your time

use the jogger with squeezplay
use Logitech server on your computer box or NAS with all the tunes or streaming access
plug joggler into DAC via USB

and DAC into Line level input on the old HIFI

control what plays from your mobile phone whilst hiding in the cupboard just to freak people out

far out

I can assist if you decide to dip your toe into streaming for nout

suggest a decent DAC is useful those USB sound card things are audiopoop

Dave, do you know everything about everything? I'm worried. Impressed but worried.
