Calendar idea

Post by Gas for GOSH »

Drew mentioned a very good idea, namely to get you all to post up and vote for your 12 favourite photos to go into an MMA calendar.......this is NOT a full monty or Calendar Girls calendar where you vote which 12 MMA members you want to see nude (the image is just getting worse as I write this  )

No, this is you as the MMA faithful submitting or voting for your 12 favourite photos of MMA cars. In the states they print and sell them to raise money for the club. Over here you all know we have only just got Connected back into print because of shortage of funds so there is no way I can even think about suggesting we print it separately UNLESS there is a mass demand of people saying "Yes I would buy one and this is what I'd be prepared to pay".

So let's take this in stages. First up let's see if there is any interest in the idea as a whole. So start putting up photos you think are the top 12 photos of Mopars this year...there's loads in the events section on the forum, members car show on the forum or Connected issues. Second if there is a mass of photos put up those with the most votes get selected. At this point the easiest thing to do is for me to say put the top 12 in the centre spread of the year end connected. BUT if you are seriously interested in buying a proper printed calendar then please indicate:

A4 wall hanging type
A5 or smaller desk fold over type
how much you'd be prepared to pay

Only then will I know what the interest is and what to suggest next.

Nice idea. Whilst I'm not the biggest fan of the American cars, I do appreciate the time and effort people put into their cars.

I'd buy it to support the club.

I'd be interested too Simon.

How will you break it down...........
2/3 x A
2/3 x E
3/4 x B
2/4 x C/F/M/J/Aus

Could even take it further when the 12 have been chosen............You could have a CA style car of the year as voted for by MMA members from the list!
Could be awarded at the NATS (maybe a larger style print of winning car for the owner, rather than a trophy).

Good idea... what about getting suppliers to sponsor a month each and help pay for it that way. Dont know what the cost of making a calendar is but I'd be up for sponsoring a month dependant on cost ... as an importer of vehicles I've sold a few from the MMA site and would be happy to give something back.

If we can get support from members it should off set the costs , and then selling them at shows, meets, etc. should also off set costs.

most clubs in the states run as a "non for profit" pretty much means they pay no taxes, as long as revenues stay with in the club, and no body makes a profit, and money that is made beyond costs go back in to the club for events, meetings, etc.

It might be a cool thing, something to ponder, and I will be in for more than one :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright:

I would have a wall style one. Depending on quality of paper/print £5 - £10.

On a VW forum I use they had a calendar where each month was sponsored buy a supplier/trader as Dave Madders has suggested. People volunteered cars and some of the girls modeled with them (tastefully). The purpose was to raise money for a teenage cancer unit.

Thanks for the responses so far......keep them coming please.

Dave Tildesley.....hadn't thought about a specific breakdown of models, but yes I totally agree about ideally having a decent spread of models. So I would love to see people putting up all sorts of photos of models and conditions. Miles and Cathy will be made up that the Roadrunner is one of the first nominated :D ..... but that is EXACTLY the point: the top 12 photos do not have to be of pristine concourse stuff. What is important is that it's a quality photo and that the calendar as a whole represents not just different models but the spirit and attitude of the club.

So think about the car, the image, the background.....so here's one of Adam's I'd nominate for example.

Dave Madders.......excellent comment and suggestion re sponsoring a page, thank you Dave. Any other traders, mechanics, businesses want to register an interest?? It's only an interest at these stage, nothing binding. Like I say I need to have an idea of numbers so we can approach our printer and get costings that take into account type of calendar and print run. Only then could the committee decide what level of sponsorship we would need to ask for from sponsoring businesses.

So keep photos, indication of what you want and ideas coming
