Knackered since loaning it to a 'mate'
It still lifts fine but no longer stays up.
What needs doing, where do I get any seals etc ( there's no manufacturers I.D. that I can see) Is it self-reparable?
Ta Pete, I've not had much success fixing my jack so I'm dreading this tbh. Replacing the seals shouldn't be too hard but they seem to have a set procedure to bleed the pump which I couldn't get right!
The piston and bore will probably need to be honed and polished as well as new seals. Anywhere that does hydraulic ram repairs will be able to fix it, bound to be somewhere local that does it all kinds of vehicles and machinery uses rams. Never had a problem bleeding one, fill it up, pump it up as far as it will go with no weight on it, lower and normally the air comes out at that point. Top up and repeat till it's full and that's it. It is important to use proper hydraulic oil, anything else will soon ruin the seals.
Cheers Blue. Mine shouldn't need that level of repair. It's not that old, it just got used to try to pull up a tree stump! I reckon oil must have got forced past the seal, damaging it.
So thanks to various youtoob vids I worked out my jack was low on oil. It's now topped up, bled and working perfectly
Shame I didn't work that out before I bought it's replacement
