The Trunk was strange too - I assume that is either a small tank or for ballast???

Blue Rose team

Post by JD426 »

Hi Dave,

There were four cars in the Blue Rose team, if you include my street and odd rwyb driven '63 Fairlane 4-dr. Melvyn "Woody" Wooding, is an old mate of mine from the late-'60's and Chris Frost's garage (always had about 50+ 50's-'60's American cars for sale!) here in Rushden.
Melvyn painted my Fairlane with a stars and stripes paint job, the same as the race cars, at his workshop at Staughton airfield in '75. I paid him two "engines in bits", a 289 Ford and a 283 Chevy. He and I started the job at 7pm one Friday night and finished it Sunday night after we'd been working all week. Didn't need to sleep much in those days...

That old maverick,Kenny Coleman owned when it was later called "Stampede"powered by a small block chevy.
The pair of Falcons on the Pennine drag race club stand, did the same display at loads of car shows at the time,I think one belonged to a guy called Neil Harker.

I think I need some big Wolfies on my 71 cuda

There were actually 3 Falcons in the Blue Rose team, there was another early one called the Thorn. It was either that one or Blue Rose 2 that Neil later owned and put back on the street.
