'74 Challenger - High Beam question

Post by Garp »

Hi all
So today I have to move my challenger to new storage. Sadly this has to be done after dark. I was just making sure all lighting was working last night before the move this eve and I cannot get my high beam (I assume this is when the inner headlight come on) to work. Depressing the floor switch just turns the lights off altogether.
As simple as a fuse ? Any heads up as to fusebox location and which fuse. Apologies only had the car a week but have no manuals etc as yet.
Thanks in advance

I'm sure someone has more reliable info but - the floor switch carries the full current to the lights and lives in the damp under the carpet so it's worth checking for corrosion and bad contacts there. You can usually find the workshop manual online. Do a search for 'challenger fsm download'

As suggested its usually the floor switch button, bad contacts inside. I have managed to spray electrical cleaner into the switch, and sorted the fault in the pas.t
Usually works best if you can remove the switch, and get the contact cleaner inside the switch properly. :thumbright:

I concur with the above. Had the blame on my Dodge truck. Replaced the floor dip switch and all good.
