Interesting day today...

Post by GJUK »

Went to see a replacement car for my wife's E36 318. It has been such a great car, getting on a bit now though nuclear bomb proof needs money spending on it greater than the value of the car.

Saw a 318CI with 60k on the clock, liked it and went to see it. Took it out for a spin with me as the passenger then promptly got in to a car smash being T-boned at a traffic lights by a vauxhall Adam, all this while he was showing me the car and how nice it was. The driver of the car I was in went through a red light, I had about 5 seconds to shout "stop" four times then brace myself for impact. Police were kind enough to give me a lift back to my car

Alas no photos, though imaging what a BMW 3 series coupe with a wheel hanging off looks like and you are about there.

Quite an eventful day, went on to see car number two and bought it though. So all things happen for a reason...

Be safe out there!

Ouch! Still, at least on the positive side you're able to tell the tale, eh?
It's so rare to see an E36 on the roads these days. I still think of the E46 shape as a brand new car but they've been replaced how many times, now? Maybe 3 times?

Did you get another E36 or did you settle on one of the later incarnations?

:D, I felt really sorry for the driver of the car for sale, his mind was on trying to impress me as a possible buyer rather than the metal post thingys with red lights lit up on them.

Could have been a much worse. :thumbright:

(should I cage my wifes new car? :D)

Yeah, solid car all good.

We bought another E46 318CI. Still have the E36, not sure what to do with it really, might use it as a tool to lug stuff from the front garden to the rear or maybe turn it in to a modern plant pot.... dunno :D I don't like selling things so it will probably stay here.

(if anyone wants a cheap automatic nuclear bomb proof knock about let me know!)
