Torque convertor thoughts

With the trans out I'm considering a new convertor.
My cars not so easy to recommend for as its a 340 in a B body with 3.23 gears.
I'm thinking 2,400 which would also accommodate deeper gears if I go to 3.55 or 3.73
Any thoughts chaps?
Current convertor is B&M 2,000 stall which is a bit sluggish if I jump on it although works perfectly for normal driving

I would definitely go with a more lose convertor than you currently have to allow the 340 to sin up a bit more.

From my experience, I have NEVER had a convertor that stalled later than advertised - they always stall earlier (behind Big Blocks / Strokers); so I would consider going a bit higher than advertised.

Mind you, a 340 rev-monkey in a heavy car with "soft" gears may result in the converter stalling a bit later.

Lucky dip time unless you get one built for you knowing your cam / gear / weight data. Then it gets expensive.

I'd be tempted to go for 2800 myself, but without knowing the cam spec it's all a bit of a guess...

Cam is 224/230@50
Lone separation 110
Lift is 0.47"
Not radical
I agree that stall can vary with lower torque motors. I could have a custom 11" form PTC custom built for sensible money. Just concerned they recommend another 2,000 stall which isn't enough for the way the car runs.

As for sale Pete, who knows, but I do like things done properly whilst I own the car ;)

Cant justify the cost of a Dynamic (I wish), has anyone come across JW convertors? Looking at this one

JW have been around a good few years, that will probably work out for you. That's a very good price, performance convertors were about £600 back in the '80's.....

Thanks Blue, looks good. I just couldn't find an on-line recommendations from yank Mopar forums.
Most favour TurboAction, PTC and Dynamic according to need and budget.

Yes they are all the top quality items that will cost you double. For what you are doing, a cheap and cheerful one should do. Usually an expensive convertor is built from better components to last longer, and should have a lower percentage of power loss at the top end due to slippage. As ever you pays your money and takes your choice.

I have used JD before and rate them highly, I had a 5500 stall one in the Dart.

Morgan, it'll be free shipping to Florida and then down to Ron to ship over.

Summit don't do the same convertor, but a similar one costs $175 (£120) inc shipping and taxes which seems reasonable unless the £ to $ continues to slip.
