10inch drums

Post by lough3969 »

So, Anton is converting the front drums of the the dart from 9" to 10" for me. We thought we had managed to assemble all the relevant parts but... These are missing... Need them for both sides and would like to get them ASAP so that Anton doesn't have to rebuild them twice!
Any help would be most appreciated. [-o<

Got a lock washer here. Original application was a 2.8 ford capri.
What size is the nut that you need it to fit over accross the flats and I'll have a measure?

A castle nut and split pin works just as well as the hex nut, lock cover and pin

the top of the crenulations is no higher than the spikes on the locking cover

Black cab spares places used to do a wide range of castle nuts and split pins in some "olden days" thread pitches (my nearest used to be farm lane fulham

land rover (rimmer Bros or MOSS Europe) and plant suppliers would be next on my list.

they do need to be used with the locking washer though...the split pin is to stop the nut coming off due to vibration not designed to stop the nut turning if the whole bearing starts spinning on the stub.
impromptu bearing seize is isolated from the nut by the washer stops it doing itself up too tight or undoing depending on which direction you are going.

Dave999 I did think that might be the case... As ever an encyclopaedic response! Think Anton has found some spares, will know later.
Thanks again! :thumbright:
