Hi all,
I recently changed the grommet on the rocker-cover breather as I suspected it was the cause of some oil pooling on top of the block behind the large water pipe.
Took the Challenger out for a run today only to find that another small pool of oil had arrived once again in the same place ...... I can confirm that it certainly isn't coming from the rocker cover breather and am now on the hunt for the source.
As it is so far forward on the block and happens while driving, I think that i'm right in saying that inertia would mean oil would pool BEHIND the point of origin and NOT forward of it?
The only point I can think of is the dipstick tube which is a loose fit - is this possible ? Has anyone encountered this ?
It's making a mess of the engine bay as it appears to be small "spits" but they are getting everywhere ! Sadly my air filter has taken the brunt and will need changing but not until I can find the leak.
Thanks in advance
Garp

Will check and confirm but that sounds possible.MilesnMiles wrote:Do you mean on top of the water pump immediately in front of the inlet manifold?
If so it's likely the inlet manifold front seal. Often leak if the gasket is old/not sealing.
Thanks

OK, so that makes sense to me (apologies - though that was oil pressure sender) - all other gaskets nearby look clean and I have checked the PCV (valve cover pressure release) all is working fine, cannot really think it's anything other than the dipstick as nothing else seems to show as the culprit.Blue wrote:No oil up there fella, that's the temp sender and heater hose, both go into water.
Have checked the seat of the carb' but its clean and tight ..... ?
I guess I just take it for a run and photo the results .... watch this space and ....
Thanks
