Been meaning to get an extinguisher in the Dart... think it would be a good idea, just incase! Had one that knocked around several cars till i noticed it had no pressure left...

wish we could get the Halon extinguishers!

care to share your choices and/or thoughts as well as where to mount or store them...

I use a 1kg powder bolted to the tunnel between the seats, easy access and easy to periodically check you have pressure. I have a new one here if you need it.

Yeah, I just don't like the idea of powder - the mess is sometimes worse than the fire! It's corrosive too so you need to properly clean up after a fire. OK better to have that than your car burn to the ground, but you would think there are better alternatives. I still have a small Halon one which is charged and I though Halon was still available for motorsports??

For the garage I'd have thought a big one, again CO2 sounds good to me (careful not to suffocate in a confined space!). There ought to be a way to get a big (like you'd find in a building) one for not much ££, they are all over the place. Maybe even preowned are available (not pre-used though...)

The CO2 route is tempting but there is the risk that in the open air, a small extinguishers output will be limited as the CO2 is quickly and easily dispersed in the surrounding air...

Since 2000 Halon is allowed only for limited applications within the aircraft industry, military / armed forces, petrochemical industry and some specific marine applications. Ownership outside of those is illegal apparently...
