Not the greatest pics I'm afraid but when 96 tons is clearing the station end to end in 5/6 seconds I was more interested in watching in real life rather than through a tiny screen

Arlesey station, Northbound platform this morning as its just a couple of minutes from me.

I had no idea of the mixed reactions this engine restoration and event coverage had caused. I'm glad I'm into MOPARS and not on a train forum, what an agressive violent bunch they seem to be  Not like your soft cuddly MOPAR "enthusiast"

Nearly 30,000 lbft of traction torque sounds impressive though :thumbright:

Impressive, but how or where they spent £4.2M on restoration is beyond me,there's no way it should of cost even half that.
The train had to do an emergency stop at one point today thanks to so called enthusiasts all over the tracks. We used to get them like that when I was at the Bluebell railway, they're an absolute pain in the butt. Imagine standing in the middle of a motorway to take a pic of a Mopar

RNM had a crack at it, realised they weren't up to the job after blowing a shed load of dosh and then contracted the job out.
By all acounts it was absolutely knackered.

I know the boiler was in a bad way,but most preserved lines can do the job in the £1M-£1.5M range.

Flying Scotsman test runs in the snow Sunday 17 January 2016 on the East Lancs Railway, this was the 0950 from Rawtenstall non-stop to Heywood just outside Bury taken from Albert Rd bridge. Bury-based steam and diesel engineering firm Riley & Son was appointed to complete the overhaul as well as manage and maintain it during its first two years of operation. Seen here still in black primer, now in BR green since 17 February

Yep I can agree with that, they are animals. Driving trains is my living, I drive intercity trains from Liverpool Street to Norwich and quite often they run 70013 Oliver Cromwell 1 of only 2 surviving Britannia Class engines. When its in London or Norwich it causes quite a lot of attention and the platforms are packed with a lot of pushing, shoving, swearing because someone has stood in front of someone else who was taking a pic. It can get quite dangerous with trains still coming in and out, but I have seen some beautiful views of it coming towards me in full steam.

I don't suppose you're allowed to take pics while you're driving? :-k
