You got it mate, Ive come to the same conclusion myself, patch up and get it back on the road. I'll probably end up replacing the whole floor pans come winter but for now, I want to enjoy it !!mad machs wrote:Ah, patina![]()
Think the way forward here is to patch it up (for now) so you can use it, then make a list of all the panels & bits n bobs you need from the states, & use Ron Fentons excellent shipping arrangement.

Patched the major bits.
I did start forming panels but a) I only had a hammer and vice (so was a pita) and b) once I made the decision to replace all the floor panels in the winter, there wasn't much point in spending too much time on it... I forgot how much I hate welding Bananarama! steel !!
just a few more bits to go

Spent a few hours on the car, managed to finish up the most of the welding.
Its far from where I want it, but the desire to get the car out on the road is stronger than having complete unwelded floor pans. So I've patched up the worst bits and given it all a spray

Manged to get a rear bench seat, from a unknown '71 car, so I've fettled with that and rewelded the support bars, so that its now fits... ish !!!
coupled with the Challenger front seat, the interior is looking much cleaner. New black carpet on its way, along with door cards and sail panels, she should be good to go in a week or two. Again, the interior will be far from where I want it, but the plan is for the car to be a rolling project.
Swapped over the runners, front the old seat, onto the challenger seats so it should have been a straight froward job !! hours those bloody seat took me... trying to get the right position and height !!!! finally finished so I've just got to sort the placement out for the new seatbelts, and then pull it all back out again
