Newbie saying hello - novice needs help...
I'm a self confessed car nut who has a passion for anything on four wheels. After going to the Mopar Euronats a couple of years ago, I've been hooked and will be going to this years weekend too with my boy in tow. So far I have managed to keep myself contented with reading magazines and watching various TV shows, but the time may be upon me to actually own a slice of Mopar myself - just need to see if the wife will let me keep the current 2 seater weekend fun car as well or not!
I'm going to have a look at this http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C729673 tomorrow. It ticks a lot of the boxes in what I am looking for (no rear seat belts, but believe these can be retro fitted easily enough), but my car knowledge doesn't stretch to American Classics, so Camaro specific issues will be unknown to me.
Are there any companies who will look at a car for you? Not sure the typical AA/RAC check will be worth much on such a vehicle!
Thanks in advance to any help, hints or tips you can offer. Looking forward to continue reading some old posts on here.

Umm.... All are welcome here - but you may do better at the chevy owners club for real nut-and-bolt detail. You'll find plenty on here that know lots and lots - but mopar ( dodge, plymouth, chrysler) is their speciality - but not snobby. Just rabid...
That said, nice looking car. 383 will be a small block stroker - much cheaper power than mopar, very well known routes to success. That car sounds like it has all the right bits on, interior looks to have had clocks changed - so originality might not be your thing. i bet it goes like stink ! Strong money, but it might be a fully sorted car. Let us know how you get on.

It may be worth hanging on until the Nats to get the car of your dreams.

Oh the MMA is a better place to than the chevy club - OBVIOUSLY !
I just know how awesome this place was when I was setting out and should you get the Camaro I am sure there are Chevy gurus (in the same way here has mopar gurus) that could be similarly awesome for you.
Keep us posted...

That has all the right stuff on it and its a pure example of American Muscle. Pick up any American car book and the Six-pack or Hemi Roadrunner will be in it. The only Camaro would probably be the Yenko.
Don't let us tell you how to spend your money, but out of those 2.......buy the Mopar!!

A safe investment and one hell of a sound!

Is there a UK Chevy club?Numbers wrote:Thanks Morgan, appreciate your honesty. I'll check out the Chevy owners club - must've missed them in my search. I enjoyed my time at the Euronats and am very much looking forward to my trip this year, so I'll stick around, whichever way I decide to go
I know there are UK clubs for Corvettes and Tri Chevys, but not aware of any for Chevys in general or for other specific models....

Hi Chris. There seems to be a lot going on with the Camaro you are looking at, Ford rear etc? plus it's non original asking top money which may explain why the price drop & trouble moving it on.
Having owned a 68 Z28 Camaro I would say that the classic Camaro/Chevrolet market is far stronger in the US and they also like pro-mod cars, not quite the case here in the UK.
After 7 years of Camaro ownership, four of which were getting the car built I've gone back to Mopar and have to say apart from the cars being better constructed, looking etc. IMO, they hold their value more here in the UK and are more easily sold on. These are of course just personal observations that I have made over my 26 years of American car ownership, 19 of which were Mopar.
My Z28 below at Goodwood.

Not sure where you are in Berkshire, but I am based in Windlesham & always available for a chat. I don't profess to be an expert, but can generally tell a suspect car & would be prepared to help/have a look with you. Always good to have someone to ground you when looking at a car. Easy for the heart to overcome the wrong decision.
The 69 Camaro, is generally held in higher esteem than 67,68 & typically demands a higher price.
If the Camaro is what your looking for, I would seek out a Chevy/Camaro type club.
As previously mentioned, the Camaro you listed is not original, maybe this is what you want ? A modified car is generally worth less.
If I were looking or had to modify the axle, I prefer the 9" axle design over a Chevy C clip rear end.
Might not work for you, but I would do a simple list of what I want the car to do; original, show car, street n strip, etc. This helps me narrow down what I'm looking for & what criteria I need the car to meet.
