71 cuda/barracuda indicators not working

Post by Cuda Commando »

Does anyone have a pic of the standard flasher unit for 71 Cuda/Barracuda? Also where it is located under the dash.Turn signal lights started to flash way too fast, now will not flash at all.
All bulbs are ok and they work when hazard switch is pressed. The workshop manual shows a pic of the hazard unit which has been found and is ok.Just cant find the other unit which flashes lights when turning.Must be buried somewhere!
Cheers in advance for any help.

Turn the hazards on and have a listen under the dash for the location. You should be able to hear it "ticking".

Sorry, I did not appreciate it was a separate flasher.

Mine is lower down close to the steering column not too far from fuse box. Its a dumpy cylindrical unit about 1 inch high in bare metal . Marked 12v flasher unit .

If you need to replace it, go to your local car spares shop and ask for a flasher unit for an Austin Mini. They should have one in stock.

Both flashers are interchangeable. Find the flasher one and swap in the one for the hazards as a quick fix. Let's face it, if you need the flashers on its a bit late to worry about indicators!

Sorted :thumbright: No wonder had difficulty finding the damn thing. It is located to the right side of the centre ashtray tucked up near the top of the glovebox. Not as you would think on drivers side of dash.
Thanks for the advice guys.

If originality is not vital i fitted an electronic flasher which is superb and about £10 from Moss. No more slow indicators and a decent warning sound.
