blown power valve?

Post by MilesnMiles »

Car flooded on start up . I cleaned the plugs and after much trouble got it to fire and run, but not before a healthy looking 1' high flame back fired through the carb.
The car now runs smoothly but without warning will start to stumble and fail. Blown power valve?

Doubt it, when the power valve fails you normally get clouds of black smoke out of the exhaust, rough running and the engine will not idle at all.

Your right Blue, I left it for an hour or so and it ran fine. Maybe there was just heaps of unburned fuel causing problems the first time.

Old cars that need to be started more regularly! Kev, it normally syarts and runs like a top. Theres no choke on the carb and the plugs were wet when i pulled them. I soppose too much fuel was unburnt. Eventually it ran fine.
Still a pretty spectacular flame out of the carb though
Took it for a hoon later on and no problem.
