my mild street/strip 493 is going through oil like it is going out of fashion, it seems to be blowing out of the rocker cover breathers as its all over the engine bay, its worse on long motorway journeys, cruising at 70+mph theres 2 breathers in each cover
what do you think?
would a pcv set up work better?
crankcase ventilation

i would never run a car WITHOUT a pcv system. Also i think another problem can be if you are using aftermarket (esp cheapo) rocker covers they do not have the baffles etc to stop oil spraying out of the hole.
fit a pcv to one rocker cover ,and a filterd breather cap to the other, and it should at least top the inside of your engine catching black death

Put the valve on the drivers side. You might be better with just the one breather on the other side. That way you get a nice flow of air moving through the breather which will help drive the oil back. Make sure there is a baffle under the breather and valve and hamer the edges over so they come close to the inside surface of the valve cover.
If your piston rings are worn or the pistons a loose fit (forged?) the problem will be worse.
