I just got registered and now I need your help already

we just bought this...

its being shipped over in the next few weeks and we want to change the transmission and brakes etc to make it more usable in europe.

It currently does a 0-60 in supersonic time but flat out its 65 mph !!!!

What mods does it need and who in New York state can do it or failing that here in UK? we would like to get it done there I think.

Welcome!

It probably needs a rear gear set change, that can be done in Blighty if you wish.

Literally just received this in...

Monster mega a518 transmission good 400hp/450ftlbs $2250. Core$ 600. Unavalible transmission from mopar performance p5249166 $1650 core ? Convert $600 for either .also need adapter kit $550 for both

Does that seem right?

Nice car,Im a real fan of the 70 plymouths,get the car here,drive it,then decide if it needs a rear gear swap,I wouldnt go modifying that car

I would agree, maybe you can also go with taller tyres, it can make a difference.

I had a 1969 Dodge with 4.10's and 14" wheels - it would do 85mph flat out but it would get there quickly. I stuck 275 x 60 x 15 tyres on it and that helped.

I have 4.10's in my Bee but 30" tall tyres to compensate, but it obviously does not look factory like that.

Don't change anything until you've driven it. I have a 440-6 pack with 4:10 gears and it's not a problem. Okay you sit on the motorway at 60-70mph but why would you want to go any quicker? Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Thanks for all the replies.

The decision to change the transmission has already been made so may I ask what any knowledgeable members here think of the solution they have offered which is detailed above.

Also the brakes are being changed out for discs. we wanted discs all round but the Yanks say its overkill and just the fronts will do. ??

Welcome! Beautiful car.

If it's a real V code in it's original configuration, even if not "matching numbers", I would think carefully before changing any major components, such as the transmission. It will have a significantly adverse effect on the value of the car.

If you want to upgrade to modern running gear, suspension, brakes, wheels etc., you are better starting with a lesser value car with the same body, such as a Satellite.

But don't mind grumpy old purists like me - it's your car :-)

I would be looking at fitting a gear vendors overdrive rather than swapping out the whole transmission. You probably know this already but just in case, any non standard mod you do to that car will affect it's value, collectors are mainly interested in originality not driveability. Having said that it's your car to do as you wish
