As some may know we didn't make it to Brooklands earlier this year as the '73 Challenger (340ci) decided to have a rest after about an hours driving. Battery was completely flat and zero electrickery to be found.
RAC didn't have a clue which end was the front and suggested a dropped valve!!!..... so we got recovered home. Obviously suspected the alternator initially but I've had that tested and all OK.
Battery seems to be OK from being bench charged so next thing to swap out is the voltage regulator I guess, which should be a fairly cheap thing to try - Rock Auto want between £5.37 and £21.23 for (what looks to be) the same thing plus a fiver postage. US Automotive in Bedford want nearly £50 when you get VAT and post added!!!
Also looks like I may need a set of exhaust gasgets too as leaks are audible.
Anyone got any good (UK based) ideas or should I just sit and wait for the postman??
Voltage regulator?

Try customville for the voltage reg.
I bought mine prior to Brexit, so that may have skewed the prices, but I don't think I paid more than 25/30.
Plenty on here will have a good second hand one for 5/10/15.
Put up a wanted add before you spend decent money chasing electrical gremlins.....!!!
Oh and check all your earths.
The voltage reg needs a good earth between it and the body. I took the bolthole surround and rear of the reg down to shiny metal to make sure of a good earth.....No problems since!!

Quick update - had the old Voltage Regulator tested and it was showing 0....open circuit ....... so bought that one from eBay, (thanks for the link Latil) and fitted it ensuring that the earth was good (thanks Dave81). Appears to be charging now so hopefully that's sorted it!
