A body 318 engine mounts
Guys, can anyone shed any light on whether or not there is any difference between LHD & RHD cars in terms of engine mounting brackets? As far as I can find having gone through the parts catalogs there should be no difference but myself and Stu have been unable to get our motor to drop in place using what we believe to be the correct combo. Bearing in mind the popularity of the 360 engine, has anyone got a set of mounts left over after swapping out their 318? Parts manual pages attached below.

In a LHD car they would be just the job but I would need to be 100% sure that RHD cars use the same mounts before forking out that kind of money. Add on customs duty and delivery costs and that could be an expensive mistake if they're wrong hence the question.
Appreciate your input though, Steve.

I have a 1971-73 Australian parts book which should have brackets and insulators (early style) for 318 340 and 360 i.e flat biscuit rubbers rather than spool mounts.
if the part is the same as the 318 part
then it is the same as the US part
i'll try and dig it out just need to find it
the parts diagram in the 1960 to 69 aussie parts book is identical to the one you show in your PDF just mirror image in all but the text.
2863443 matches 318 and 340 in your parts book
2843223 matches only 273 and 318
insulator 2806779 looks to be the insulator
I belive your mounts should be Australian VE -VH 69-71 for the 318
I need to look at the post 71 book to see if the parts are the same for the CH 360 cars
the rear square block comes in 2 types
1 with 1 stud
and 1 with 2 studs
both work in all applications if need be just drill another hole
mount it up and cover it with a plastic bag .
the gearbox oil comes out the breather and makes the modern ones soft very quickly

Dave 999, thanks for the info. I think I follow what you're saying
If you can find that parts book and confirm what Aus cars with biscuit mounts use to mount a 318 then I think we'll be pretty much sorted.
Blue, I suspect that you are correct in that LHD & RHD are in fact the same. Will get some photos if we can't clear this up soon but will have to rely on Stu for that as he has custody of the car at present

ok
318 340 360 use 2863443 and 3426688 as the brackets
and 2806779 as the rubber
the difference is that the 340 and the 360 in a post 71 Aussie Mopar
uses spacer bracket to cylinder block L.H. side 3542036
so US and Aussie v8 small block K frame is the same
US and Aussie V8 small block mount brackets are the same
US and Aussie V8 small block rubbers are the same
but to mount a 340 or 360 you need SPACER, Bracket to cylinder block, Left hand side
of course that spacer doesn't appear in the diagram and it doesn't appear in the workshop manual as it seems to be an additional thing that doesn't fit with the generic 273 and 318 pictures they use everywhere
i'm guessing its a bit of flat plate or similar to fill a gap that appears if you mount up the rubbers and the brackets
pop the motor in and tie it down on the right hand side
I'd guess there is a small gap between bracket and the motor on the LHS
i'd also guess this spacer is an innocuous looking thing that very few ever remove from the bracket or maybe the motor.

i'd guess 3426688 is a post 1970 A body bracket
that replaced the one you mention
the book diagram looks identical to yours.
Dave
PS no its not
71 US parts book doesn't list it
ahhhhhhh
looks like the aussies used some kind of mish mash in 71-73 for their 340s and 360s so they could use 318 brackets
i.e it sounds like they came across your issue and came up with a solution that meant that didn't have to retool engine mount brackets for the small runs of 340 and 360 cars they built

Hi Dave. Thanks for the research.
I think the general consensus of opinion here is that LHD & RHD mounting brackets are the same when dealing with a 1968 A-body with a 318. All we need to do now is find some. I will be hovering around the Cannonball Watts used parts emporium if you need me at the Nats.
