You're not missing much - mainly pics from people having just washed / polished their modern Mustangs in readiness for a meet-up, and later on 100+ identical pics of the aforementioned cars at the meet-up, from all the owners who attended!

normal wax and wane over summer I think

facebook is ok. but its not a proper repository of useful stuff, you can never guarantee you will find it again when you need it

corporate policy at work has limited my ability to post and to do anything with pictures.

I have no resize tools that will work anymore...

which is a pain

if I didn't have to resize or I could post sizeable chunks of data in some of the not accepted file types, i'd post up more

have chatted in the past with tyrefryer about a repository of useful stuff

I have parts books and blueprints and all kinds of old tosh stored away which some may find useful.

workshop manuals, to scans of race track stickers decals and adverts...

if posting that lot brings in punters happy to assist.

warm weather, lighter nights and shows to go to, tends to impact the Sitting at the PC time....

and so does work.

it saddens me that some are worried about posting.

we have a merry bunch here who are much more likely to gently push you in the right direction than take issue with anything.

all that will happen is one or both of you learn something.

FB and twitter anything you post can be forwarded on and on again...here No, its a safe playground, post something truly daft here and it stays here...limited impact and in general a good natured ribbing will ensue.

nothing wrong with getting it totally wrong. tis the only way to learn anything, well its the only way I learn anything. getting put back on track by someone with more experience is the best bit you get to choose what you do next. take the advice or ignore the advice, both result in an outcome that could be what you want or wrong again. but ultimately if you are enjoying your hobby that is the main thing

its fun or sport or both..
when it comes to motor vehicles surely the aim is to have a much fun as you can for the outlay in funds you can afford.

he who dies with the most toys wins, and if they all work even better.

post away...post what you think, it may be right it may be wrong but if it triggers a moment of thought....job done.

I don't think we have a clique I don't think there is any ego involved in this I just don't see it....but maybe that's the problem, maybe that's my problem.... I just like the sound of my own keyboard and the vague hope that something I wrote might have been useful to someone ....its more fun than writing requirements for bits of software which is what i'm supposed to be doing.

Well said Dave
I think this is one of the best Forums going-I don't post too much as I'm not that good at stringing to many words together!!!
I am checking out the Forum at least once a day when I'm by a computer and find it enlightening , informative and most of all friendly !!!
I think once the photo re-sizing issues are sorted a lot more folks will post photos which will help the Forum a lot :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright:

I must admit there have only been a couple of people who have put me off posting more stuff. A couple of "replies" have stuck in my memory, I wonder if you can spot the common denominator?:

...one thread was soon after I attended my first show with a large Mopar presence with my recently acquired (mostly un-finished) Mopar, so I wasn't exactly feeling welcomed.....

What a great thread. I was somewhat worried when I saw the title, but thankfully Ive had time to read it all and it echoes alot of what i have thought recently.
The pics thing is the key and as a committee we have discussed this.

Basically we have been overtaken by modern technology and need to catch up, and we are trying.
The new web site was the start.

I havent been on the forum here for a few weeks due to a busy summer, holidays, military interests as well and the normal daily life stuff. I do use a PC for the forum, and working shifts does allow me time at home to catch up on MMA stuff, but I can fully get the need to be able to access the forum on the go.
I do have FB but I'm not that good at it and find it hard to follow or find things. It is a here now, gone tomorrow type thing as you can never find stuff twice.
The forum is a searchable area so is different and valuable.
If this thread had no replies then there would be a problem, but the response shows there is a passion for the MMA and the forum and input from everyone is the best way to work out the way forward.
Most of what I had thought of has already mentioned so we are all like minded to some extent.
I hope this thread serves as a useful opinion pool for how things can be improved to move forward effectively.

Thank you Dorian for starting it off!!

I don't know what you're all moaning about. I go on a few other forums and this forum is pretty active compared to others. The NSRA forum is very quiet and has been for a few years now, one or two posts a week. When this forum gets like that I'de be concerned.

I tend to check in everyday but don't always post, mostly because I don't want to give duff info or advice. There has been times when reading a post that I've thought I knew the answer to the question asked, but wasn't 100% sure so didn't reply. Only to read later that if I had posted, I would have been right. I'm never sure if it's sheer good luck or knowledge though :D

Also think that the forum has slowed down due to lighter nights, show / race season etc. Most people are out enjoying driving their cars unless they break down, major work tends to happen during the winter. So less work getting done means less questions asked. The last weekend in July always see's the forum turn into a virtual ghost town for obvious reasons. Once the season ends it'll pick up again I would think

Agree with Dave999 I'd post more if posting pics from phone/tablet was easier. I was fine with Photobucket till they changed their rules.

For me it's when I can get on and have time to post, now I'm back at work I've periods of being real busy, so I'll grab a beer after little un is asleep, have a read of the forum, the 66/67 Charger forum and Facebook and then it's time for bed so I don't end up posting much or at all.

As for people putting others off posting, don't let it. I was on a huge VW forum where in a typical evening the chat page would move several pages. With that there were many "characters" the ones who shouted loudest with the keyboard were far different in person. No one should be put off from anywhere be it if they have a gleaming top end car, clone, ratty or no car at all but just like them. We all like different things. :)

Rebel is right about it quite this time of year.
From about June, we have had a car event of some sort every weekend, including organising our own one in Shefford, so down time to get near the PC is limited, and then after the car shows slow up a little, it's holiday time, so away from internet for a bit.

Tonight is the first time I've got near a PC properly since the start of August so trying to catch up. Thankfully bake off gave me an hour of no interruptions!

if your answer to a question or your help with a problem isn't correct for the person you answered

it may well be correct and useful to 100 others who will choose whether to do what you did do what the other guy did or work out a new way themselves.

for example

i know 1 sure way to set the lash on a hemi 6 its in the book....

but it leads to noisy engine

but i'd probably quote the book

the way the book says is quick easy and doesn't do the job properly when you have solid lifters because it doesn't take into account the twist in the long cam, an issue you don't notice with hydraulic lifters due to preload.

yet there is a post on a message board that explains why you should try to do it in a slightly different order to reduce the impact...and it works....if you can be bothered to wind over a heavy engine about 4 miles further than if you just do it the bog standard way all 6 cylinders are done...

that's the beauty of a message board. collaborative work/thought came up with a solution to a problem that was evident only to a couple 1000 people across the world (well mainly in Oz) and it grew out of grass roots experience that the factory never had because they used hydraulic cams with 200 thou less lift

all that for an engine that has been on the endangered species list since 1982....

if it was on facebook i'd never find it again, at the point when i think Oooh is should save that and print it out
