Horn stopped working!

Post by XP29 »

My horn stopped working today, it's done it in the past and it's just been the baffles in the horns themselves that seized, so tapped with hammer and working again. But that hasn't worked today. At the horn relay I have 12v at the top and middle terminals and nothing at the bottom one, this is if horn is pressed or not. Any tips guys? :)

I had mine go u/s, it was pulling too much current, possible the winding's in the coil in the horn.

I just tried another horn from off my old fiesta and it was OK.

I tried a wire from battery straight to the horns and they sounded, still didn't work with at the wheel. Went out in the car and it started working, so presume contact in steering column needs cleaning up or it's an iffy relay.

Mine stopped working a while back. Removed steering wheel and gave the contact a light sanding, did the same with the copper ring on the underside of the steering wheel and it started working again

Yes it sounds (!) like there is contact resistance on the horn button where it earths the relay to power the horn.
