Making room for the new toy , Garage extension

Post by TIB3300 »

I love the place I live, apart from my man cave #-o

As you can see its only narrow, at only 8ft wide causing access problems :?

I wanted to come out 4ft and 14ft long.

So with the wall out I replace the span with two 5in RSJs bolted and welded together, sat them on a pad stone at each end and on 100 x100 5mm box section at each end. Then sunk them 3ft in the ground with a foot on them concreted them in, then finally bolted the uprights to the existing walls.

Fantastic job, I adopted a similar approach a few years ago.

Great job, might do something similar myself, as, I struggle to get me in, let alone a car.

Thanks Mr :thumbright:

Total build for the outside was £2k, but I did make everything myself to keep the cost down " Yorkshireman" 8-)
I now have 12 feet inside wall to wall and with the car only being 5ft 6in plenty of room now

Interesting approach, not seen anything like that before - looks nice.
