That's quite an achievement to raise that amount in such a short time :thumbright:

Great news.
We'll be showing our support next year. Nothing to race, sadly but will definitely go as spectators.

The only events that have been moved to Santa Pod are from Shakey.

The "Nostalgia Nationals" - 12-13 May

The "Hot Rod Drags" - 15-16 September.

Cheers

Wow that's amazing!
It shows what love there still is in the UK for grass roots drag racing. I've never been to York but I'll do my best to get there next year :thumbright:

That is great news, I didn't think they would raise the money in time, well done to all involved.

We (All of us)cant afford to lose another dragstrip, and i think that avon park/Shakey closing as helped us raise 100k.
I know the majority of York racers, have donated more than it costs them to race for a season, lots of racers, who have not raced there for years, have still dug deep, the fund raising is still happening,if anyone would like to help out,in securing Yorks future.
Even if you come as a spectator,it all helps.

My dad took me there when I was 7 (Im 47 now),I had a run in my mates 75 camaro,14.88secs when I was 17,its not Santa Pod,its friendly,
and anybody can race,no silly rules, just well thought out safety rules, our own sanctioning body.

And Dunc,We will let you race your Hemi Challenger in American Super Stock \:D/

Great news for York Raceway and drag racing, well done all who donated.
On the subject of Shakey, no formal announcement has been made yet, although, I'd like to wish Jerry Cookson, the best of luck in his ongoing treatment following his heart problem.
