I've spotted a cheap Holley 600 in good condition but he says it's a marine carb. I know they have extra fuel safety features but are they useable as a road carb? Are most parts the same and are they standard bolt pattern?

Marine carb- any good?
No-one will believe you...
Re: Marine carb- any good?
The Gt40 MK3 has a Marine carb fitted as standard (although they only made 7 cars)
Re: Marine carb- any good?
Now that's a rare bit of trivia!
I just wonder whether the internals might be different as a marine motor has very different fuelling needs to a street motor.

Re: Marine carb- any good?
I had what I thought was a marine carb as it only had one idle mixture screw, this was 30 years ago or so,dumped it, the car with a 360, 3:91 rear would not smoke the tires,no low end what so ever

Re: Marine carb- any good?
a quick google of that number shows it to be a ford part number

Re: Marine carb- any good?
Could it be the same one used on the GT40? That would be bigger than 600 though I guess so probably just a stock item for a Ford marine engine.

Re: Marine carb- any good?
the Mk3 GT40 is a 302 and the carb is a 750. the MK1's 289 use down draught webers.
is it cheap enough to take a chance? should be easy enough to rejet.
