Thought I would post this up , as it seems some private import owners are not aware of the passenger air bag housing recall on most dodge’s from 2004 on.
I received my letter at the end of last year , but only managed to get it done at a main dealer recently due to a knee injury.
When my Cuz ( Ted the dog on here ) bought his Ram recently, I assumed the work had been done , and failed to mention it. It turned out it hadn’t, and he hadn’t been notified as it was a private import ?
Any way. Any 2004 on dodge owners please check

Hi to all,
further to mossy68's post about Air bag recalls on the 2004 to 2008 Rams. This recall is pretty much the tip of the iceberg. It can go back a lot earlier than 2004. The firm that made the airbag modules "TAKATA" supplied many manufacturer's including Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, Mercedes, Bmw, Honda etc, etc. Apparently the airbag activators can corrode and degrade with increasing age, they can also go off with more force than was originally intended in an accident and the metal assembly actually fragments into many pieces, with potentially horrific consequences for the driver and passengers. This recall involves millions of vehicles worldwide. If the vehicle has been previously kept in a hot and humid country it is more likely to occur together with the passage of time.
If you go to the official Mopar USA website and put your vehicles Chassis number into the relevant search engine on the site it will tell you immediately if your vehicle is on the official list. My 2008 Ram needs both airbags replaced. The official DVLA website where you can search for manufacturer's recalls came up negative for my vehicle.
I rang a Jeep main dealer based in Colchester, who could not have been more helpful. They checked it on their database and confirmed that action was required. I then spoke to the service manager, and whilst they have fitted many replacement airbags on Mopar vehicles under this warranty recall, he wasn't aware of any failures in the UK. The recall and replacement process is at no charge to the customer. It's literally a no brainer to check and get the faulty parts replaced if required.
Sorry if its along post but I just want to make any Mopar owner's aware of this recall.
Regards, tedthedog
Many thanks Gary - recall came out a year after I bought the car and I must admit I had not seen this. Phoned the Jeep dealer in Truro and Charger all booked in - thanks for the info

We had a recall on the airbag wiring in the column on our 1997 Chrysler Grand Voyager when we got it 4 years ago. I had heard about it on the web, and chanced my arm by calling the dealer locally, and was told, " Yes sir, yours has never had the work done so it needs to be done" I queried the fact the car is 16 years old and there was no quibble, it just got fixed!.
I do like the terms used these days though. I queried a recall on BMW Mini's and they don't call it recalls for faults, they ask you to come in for an "enhancement"
What a way to put spin on a design fault!!
