Longer throttle cable needed... or extend it?

As anyone will know, who's seen my recent post over here:

we've just got the new engine fitted to the Sport Satellite and we've just found that the original throttle cable is a tad short now it's got too reach the carb on the taller Edelbrock Performer RPM inlet. It was fine with the old (non-RPM) Performer, but the taller RPM is obviously causing the problem.

I was wondering if there's a longer cable available, but as I haven't seen any longer versions for sale (only needs to be about 1" longer) I'm wondering if the usual fix is to just make up an extension piece to bridge the gap?

Thanks Steve, yes I looked on Mancini's site but as the car's 50-odd miles away and I don't know how long our cable is, I don't know what length we'd need.
As for a link to fill the gap, I thought we had that before, and Stu's just emailed this pic to show what we had, so we'll prob do this and then consider whether to get a new cable made...

Start off with a Holley 20-7 lever extension for Mopars, that mounts the stud in the correct place and you can work from that. I normally use the stock cable and cut and weld the cable bracket to get the clamp in the right place, you only need a longer cable with a much taller manifold.

rob,dont no if this will be of any help to you,but,regarding the msd blaster coil you have fitted,i had a problem with my one,have the same coil fitted on the 383 engine,after 2 years the oil in the coil started to leak out between the terminals,had to buy another one and fitted it upright,have been told that its a common problem when they lay flat,i spoke to a member on here at santa pod last year ,and he had the same thing happen to him

Thanks, but the one we have is the gel-filled type which are supposed to be ok laying flat. We had another like this for a couple of years on the previous engine without noticing any problems.

The pdf instruction sheet says " It is recommended to mount the PN 8202, PN 82023 and 8223 coils in an upright position.
The High Vibration Coil, PN 8222, can be mounted in any position due to its epoxy potting compound."

So we should be ok
