just a warning to all those of you that use the m25 Surrey stretch. ive just received a prosecution notice for speeding between leathered and wisely I was doing 60 mph. the gantry signs were flashing 50 so fair enough but when I checked the pictures on there website there were only two cars on the motorway one being mine . so if you have to endure the m25 take heed of the signs

Luckily I live in an area with few cameras, and lovely twisty roads
However. The road side cameras are often out for the bikers enjoying life. And SRT 10 owners , or anyone else !!!!
I think the way forward is top fuel on the road.

Yes slowly breeding us in to thinking driving fast is as bad as a lunatic with a purdy, when all they really want is the revenue, we really are being slowly taken over,
The thinking behind these odd restrictions on M ways is that by slowing traffic, say 5 miles back,a queue problem further on should ease and it will all keep moving. Just a money maker,by catching people out.

I understand and agree that slowing traffic from 70 to say 60 can prevent bunching and keep traffic flowing but when they reduce it to 50 for a while, which you get used to, then it drops to 40 and the next gantry puts it back to 70 within the space of 1/4 mile, it makes me think they are just trying to catch you out to earn extra £££...

They have binned all of the fixed cameras here in the Midlands and my mates were rubbing the hands together with glee until I told them that they have been replaced by vans that can be put anywhere (and regularly are). I got done a while back by a van on a road over the M40 in Thames Valley on a Sunday morning and just scrapped a speed awareness course. Slowed me down to be honest. I just pootle around now

Matt?
I'm no expert on this but my understanding is that the signs are automatic and set themselves dependent on the traffic flow, with sensors.
The simple theory is slow traffic down and you can have smaller gaps between vehicles (2 second rule etc) so you fit more on the tarmac, once it eases off the signs change. I have no clue about the money making side of it, I just deal with the aftermath when it goes wrong, I don't do patrol work now.
