CE 386

Post by Faux-7-0 »

Greetings:

My challenger came into the UK when duties/taxes etc were evidenced by the issue of the old 386 form so I was conscious that at some stage I would need to get this converted to NOVA if I was to eventually register the car.

I was expecting a fairly long winded process and arguments with bureaucracy but it was actually fairly anti-climactic. I sent a scan of the 386 form confirming payments by e-mail with my name/address and lo, 4 weeks later, I have a NOVA number.

So, if there are longstanding project cars out there where the 386 is still the evidence of duties having being paid, you might want to send details to ecsm.nchcars@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk to get it on the NOVA system whilst they are still happy to convert.
Alan; whose 72 Challenger is inexorably taking over the house.

I did the same thing a couple of months ago with my Road Runner which I imported about ten years ago and never registered. HMRC were surprisingly helpful, and the procedure was painless.
