A long time getting here...

Post by DougieJ »

It's taken a long time to do this -

1) A long time to find the car and then get it over here
2) A long time for me to post anything up here about it (Apologies to Martin and Stewart who I promised I would post when we chatted at the Euro Nats - finally got round to it just as I'm packing it away for the winter before it gets really wet & cold!)
3) A long time for me to get round to saying Hi - Hi everyone.

Car is an R/T Tribute that came from Texas.
383cui with a column shift 727 auto.
A few things I'd like to get done to it over winter - 1st of which has to be getting it's steering sorted out followed by doing something about the header that scrapes going in and out the garage and over speed humps. I suspect it's also sitting a bit low at the rear so need to look in to that.

Anyway attached some pics from a trip out to Inveraray yesterday.

What’s up with the steering? Does the car have power steering?

Thanks all for the welcome and kind words.

To answer some of the questions the pics are at - Loch Restil - Inveraray - and Loch Fyne. Unfortunately we don't live out that way but in the city so a bit of traveling to get there but fun doing so - especially in the Challenger!

Mark - Yes it is power steering. It bump steers. It's also as vague as steering a pig. I'm suspecting that it's all not really aligned as it should be and that the steering linkages or box may have issues (the steering wheel is also at 1-2 o'clock with the wheels straight). Not really had the time to spare to start investigating yet - just been enjoying it when I can - but as said that's the main thing for over the winter. Will be making reference to the info already spotted on here for the best alignment settings. So thanks to everyone involved in providing those in advance.

Welcome Dougie. Great car and great part of the world. Im from Falkirk originally and my Scottish family live in Cathcart. Just spent a blistering (yes, hot!!) week in July over in Carradale. Drove through the area where you took the pics and dreamed of driving my Polara there. Must hook up next time Im up in Glasgow, would love to see the car in the flesh :thumbright: :thumbright:

Sounds good Steve.

You'll need to let me know next time you're up in the area.

We're not far from there - just off Paisley Road West.
